A domain is the human readable translation of the IP address which points to particular nameservers.

Domains have particular rules such as

  • No spaces
  • No symbols
  • A domain can contain a hyphen (-) but it mustn’t start or end with one!
  • Legally claimable (no trademarks)

Obviously it will depend on availability but you should want a domain that is, identifiable for your business or product(s), easy to remember/input and is relatively short.

My domain is short and easy to remember, yours should be too, no one wants to type in https://yourdomainistoolongandeasytospellwrong.co.uk
